Critics Seduced By “Villain: DeBlanks”

Dear Colleague:

The producers of the new comedy-improv phenomenon “Villain: DeBlanks” which continues its monthly performances on Sunday December 6 at 7:30pm at The Triad, 158 West 72nd Street, have somehow talked several respected members of the fifth estate (what’s left of it) to get on stage and ACT!

These grease paint-stained scribes and reporters are being incorporated into the show on different nights: Time Out NY’s Adam Feldman (Jan 3), NY 1 News Culture Reporter Stephanie Simon (Feb 7), Today in New York theater contributor Steve Schonberg (Dec 6), News 4 weatherman Raphael Miranda (Feb 7); celebrity blogger Adam Rothenberg of Call Me Adam (Mar 6), and Theater World Awards honcho Peter Filichia (Dec 6).

Among those appearing in the monthly series that features a new cast of seasoned theatre actors every time, are Tony winners Daisy Eagan and Annaleigh Ashford, Upright Citizens Brigade comedy soldier Jeff Hiller, “Avenue Q” and Smash’s Ann Harada, Broadway actress and country singer Laura Bell Bundy, Tony nominee Keala Settle and Broadway and TV’s Randy Graff.

The Dec 6 cast: Daisy Eagan, Bobby Cronin, Lauren Elder, Geneva Carr, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Peter Filichia, and Steve Schonberg

Created by the writer/director Billy Mitchell and presented by Brenda Braxton, “Villain: DeBlanks” invites audience members to come up with a stew of words and concepts that will come back to haunt each night’s new cast. As they try to enact the story of Philip DeBlanks’ untimely death, the unrehearsed actors are fed their lines, trying as best they can to maintain their dignity.

A portion of the hard-earned proceeds benefit the Humane Society of New York. The shows are presented in association with R. Erin Craig and La Vie Productions.

Performances are Sundays December 6, January 3, February 7, March 6 and April 3, all at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25, and there is a two-drink minimum. For tickets and information, visit www.villaindeblanks.com
