Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King, (www.homecomingkingshow.com) the theatrical debut of humorist and “The Daily Show” correspondent Hasan Minhaj, will return to the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street, NYC) from January 7-30th, Directed by Greg Walloch. The show is produced by Mike Berkowitz and Mike Lavoie.

Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King, the story of the “New Brown America,” is based on true events from Minhaj’s first generation Indian-American experience. Navigating between two worlds, it follows Minhaj’s arrival in the US, interracial love, racism, bullying, and his family’s quest to achieve the elusive American Dream.

“I’ve truly been overwhelmed and humbled by the amazing response this show has received,” said Hasan Minhaj. “The story of the American Dream is everyone’s story. Regardless of race, culture, creed, or class, everyone has felt like an outsider at some point in life. I’m thrilled that so many people have connected to stories of love, family, fear, and forgiveness.”

The New York Times cheers, “Hasan Minhaj battles bigotry with bittersweet humor,” while Theatermania calls Homecoming King, “as much an autobiographical sketch as it is a window into a culture that’s often sidelined in America.” The Huffington Post raves, “what really sets the show apart is his fearlessness. The power of the show is undeniable” and The Wrap applauds “Engaging & Ebullient! The Indian-American answer to Billy Crystal’s ‘700 Sundays.'”

Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming Kingis written and performed by Hasan Minhaj and directed by Greg Walloch. Scenic design is by Sara C. Walsh, lighting design by Sarah Lurie, and costume design by Kristen Buckels.
